RespiraGel™ Stoma Cushion
Novel cushion to absorb and redistribute pressure
at trachea stoma sites
Stoma sites may become sensitive or compromised due to constant pressure or movement of the tracheostomy tube and flange against tender tissue. The RespiraGel Stoma Cushion is intended to cushion the area between the flange and the stoma site, reducing movement and pressure at the site. The contoured surface of the Cushion provides a stable, comfortable interface between the flange and the patient’s neck. RespiraGel Stoma Cushions are made of medical-grade silicone encased in polyurethane. Hypoallergenic and latex-free, each Cushion is individually packaged sterile and intended for single-patient application. The RespiraGel Stoma Cushion is available in two sizes, accommodating children through adults.
The RespiraGel Stoma Cushion design allows for placement of the Cushion on the trach tube as early as the time of the tracheostomy procedure. Early use of the Stoma Cushion may assist in reducing irritation and tissue breakdown at the stoma site as well stabilize the tracheostomy tube. Use of the Stoma Cushion may decrease air leaks around the stoma site during trach weaning or during speech therapy by improving the seal between the Cushion and the stoma.
The RespiraGel Stoma Cushion may remain in place for up to 30 days and is simply changed at the time of trach change. The Cushion may be used in critical care units, operating rooms, special procedure units as well as alternate care facilities and home care.
The RespiraGel Stoma Cushion enhances patient comfort with all styles of tracheostomy tubes. Danny Ties™ may be used in combination with the RespiraGel Stoma Cushion to provide a secure fit of the tracheostomy tube.
